The Leastest People and the Mostest Guns

Hey y'all!

Wow, it has been quite a long week. I will give you the good news first! I am staying in Childress with sister Toki!!!!! (:  We are excited! I love her so much! This will be the longest I have ever been with a companion (this is our third transfer together). We set 4 baptismal dates this week!! Next is the bad news. We started off the week by Adam not wanting to meet with us anymore. It crushed us. It has made the whole week kind of hard. He was the most solid person I have taught my whole mission. The sad part is that we feel like he knows what he is giving up. It totally came out of nowhere. He texted us that he had just been going along with what we said even though he didn't really believe it and he just decided he didn't want to do it anymore. We went by his house Monday night and testified to him and told him that the church would always be here and then we left. I just hope he comes around one day. He knows the Book of Mormon is true and that this would improve his life. I think he is just scared of the changes he would have to make. Literally everything we do reminds us of him. It is so hard to lose him!! :(

So our investigators have been dropping like flies this week but we still got 4 new baptism dates! We committed Daniel to April 7th and he has been reading and he came to church yesterday! He is an older baptist man. We also committed the Pierce family (Elizabeth, Tommy, and Blayze) to April 14th! We are so excited for them! They weren't able to come to church yesterday due to sickness :(   (everyone here is sick! they even closed the schools here until Thursday) they have already been to church like 4 times though so we know that they are serious! Elizabeth called us last night crying when she found out that we both get to stay!! She was so excited!! It was so cute!!

So my title this week....haha! That's Texas for you! (as summed up by a bearded Texan at the food pantry (:   )

Love y'all!!
Thanks for your support!
You can still send me letters!! (:  1305 Ave E NW Childress, TX 79201

Cockroaches!!!!!

Hey y'all!

It's been another crazy week! Monday night we had dinner with Danna, Raysha, and Adam. The dinner was great but then our spiritual thought was hit by a bomb. Lets just say that Danna was reading her Patriarchal Blessing and Raysha was trying to interpret it. Danna wouldn't accept our commitment that we left her. Raysha doesn't want to meet with us.....Adam is still about the same....ugh! We taught him about Temples and Families this week. He had a really hard time having an eternal perspective.

Sister Toki had a stomach bug on Wednesday so we had to stay in all day. We just called formers all day and updated records.

We watched the Restoration in Chinese with Lin this week!

We had dinner with some more missionaries from the triangle ranch this week! They came down and took us to Pizza Hut.

The Pierce family came to church again! We still haven't been able to meet with them again because they live in Quanah...

Not really sure what else to tell y'all about haha! It has been a good week!

I have seen cockroaches for the first time this week.....ewwwwww! It was a lady that a member referred us to. I felt so bad! It was so so so so so so so gross!!

Love y'all!!

How Can We Help You with That?

Hey y'all!!

We don't have a lot of time to write today so sorry if any of this doesn't make sense! We have done so much again this week! We are so crazy busy!!

Monday night we taught Kai the restoration using cups and it went super well! We also taught him the plan of salvation using cutouts and he was a little distracted but overall it was good. We tried to commit him to baptism and he cried....he is kind of afraid of not being able to do the right thing and he is afraid of what his dad would say if he didn't get baptized so we have to address that again tonight. We are planning on extending the date of February 17th!

We had a great time at zone conference! Like all of the missionaries were sick but so far we haven't gotten what they have. Yay! We got Ling a Chinese Book of Mormon! She has already read to page 9!

Friday we had a lesson with our investigator Grace. She is a 74 year old Presbyterian lady. She is sweet! We had a pretty good lesson at a members house who lives in the same apartment complex as her! It was perfect! We then got to see the last little bit of President Monson's funeral :(

We have 2 new sets of missionaries out at the ranch and we had dinner with one of them this week!

We spent basically all of Saturday in Memphis! It was great! We met some awesome people!

We also went out and met a less active member in Lakeview. We are hoping to go back soon to paint his living room for him. He is 83 and lives alone so we need to find a member to come out with us. We taught Adam and his best friend, Wyatt! We taught them the restoration with cups as well! It went great and Adam made him take a Book of Mormon haha! Hopefully he will read it! We then headed to Amarillo for stake conference but only made it to the last half. We then got pizza and sat in the car making phone calls until the sisters we were staying the night with got home.

Stake conference on Sunday was really good as well. They reorganized our stake presidency so we had 2 general authorities there. The Fish family even came!! We also got to meet some less actives in Clarendon on our way back which was good. We saw Adam again on Sunday and were able to go over the baptismal interview questions. Unfortunately it doesn't look like he will be ready in time for the 27th but I know he will still be baptized soon! This is where the email title comes in (: we were asking him if he would live the law of chastity and he said something along the lines of "We're working on it guys! I am right now but I know how I would act in certain situations so I don't know if I can promise that..." Sister Toki, who had lost focus and not heard the answer then goes on to ask Adam how we can help Adam live the law of chastity....lol! Not gonna lie, I wanted to kill her but I was laughing too hard! So Adam's mom life vomited on us this week! Her fiance of 2 years has been cheating on her. It was pretty sad! She wiped her snot all over Sister Toki haha! Then we had that lesson with Adam and Wyatt and then as we were about to leave his mom said she was going to Georgia and that Adam needed to make sure Raysha (15) gets to school....she just left! Crazy! We have no idea when she will be back. So ya, Adam is now responsible for his little sister (and Raysha's boyfriend that lives with her) so ya, now Raysha and her boyfriend are living alone and Adam is in charge of them....

Last night we had dinner at Danna's with Adam and his little sister, Raysha! It went great until the spiritual thought where Danna totally bombed everything.......oh goodness......members are great (sometimes!) It will all be fine but she just forgets that they don't know about some things. I won't get too into it but lets just say she started to read us her patriarchal blessing.....lol good memories!

Well, that is just a few of the main things that happened this week! Love y'all!

Everybody should just take a chunk of Jesus!

Hey y'all!!! It has been forever!! There is so much to write and so little time!! The Library has been closed for the holidays! I love and miss y'all so much!! Seriously so much has happened since the last time I was on!! Sister Wilson left and we have a hole in our companionship!! We miss her like crazy! Sister Toki and I are doing great though!

We got to have a mission wide Christmas party (that never happens!) that was combined with transfers. It was weird and awesome to see all my old comps again!

Adam came to church on Christmas Eve and loved it! Weldon came to church on Christmas Eve as well to sing with us! (that's the only way we could convince him to come!) We taught Adam the Word of Wisdom that day and he said, "I am already trying to live it!" It was such a cool experience!! We have since followed up and even though New Years Eve was hard he is still living it! He said, "don't you guys know, the partying stops after high school" haha! We got to go to a Methodist candlelight service on Christmas Eve that one of our investigators invited us to. It was interesting and definitely continued to strengthen my testimony of OUR church! They had hawaian rolls for their communion bread and the pastor was joking about how all the little kids grab the biggest chunks and how we should all want a bit chunk 'a Jesus. haha!

Christmas was AMAZING!!!! Honestly one of the best days ever!!! Of course skyping with my family was amazing!

Next time I see them will be in person! Crazy!! We spent most of the day with a recent convert named Danna. She told us to invite everyone! We had Adam and Weldon there! Adam was even there in time to meet my family! We made cookies, hung out, skyped, ate dinner, and then watched "Meet the Mormons". It was SO much fun!!! Adam said it was one of the best Christmas's he has ever had! We drew him a picture of the first time we met and put a scripture on it (:

We are teaching a new part member family, the Fish family, in Hedley! We are teaching their 10 year old son, Remaliah Kai Nevada Jennings Moon Fish (no, I'm not kidding, that is seriously his name lol!) He is so cute and eager to learn more! We taught the Moore family again and were able to deliver the Christmas presents that were donated for them! We just found out that Sabel and Joseph have already been baptized........awkward! But Adrianna and Jaylene are still on date! We also taught Adam the Law of Chastity! He doesn't have a girlfriend so that's good! haha! He hesitated but he did commit to live it and has been successful so far! We are trying to teach this Chinese couple named Ling and Xi, the only problem being that they don't speak English...still trying to figure that one out! We ordered them a Chinese Book of Mormon though! We also started teaching their son, Lin! He speaks English! I never thought I would be teaching someone who doesn't even know who God is while serving in West Texas but here is our opportunity! He is like a little kid, he wants to know it all right now!

Sister Toki has been really sick so we had to stay in Monday and then we got to go on exchanges yesterday and today so I got to go out but she stayed in. We saw Sue. She doesn't hate us! Apparently she must not think we are failures because she let us come back! She even came to church on Sunday. Getting her to come has been like pulling teeth! She is getting married on January 13th and will probably be baptized shortly after (here now instead of in Dallas). We saw Adam again last night on exchanges and he is still doing good! He moved out so he doesn't live with his mom anymore. This past weekend he actually shared all of the pamphlets with his best friend, "Juan"! I asked him why and he said it is just easier to live the standards if the people around him know! He said Juan didn't like the Book of Mormon but Adam defended it!! I pointed out to Adam that he must have some idea that what we are sharing is true or otherwise why would he be sharing it with other people? (:

Our New Years was a normal day! We got a rude awakening on New Years Eve from some howling cats outside of our window. It was pretty scary! haha! That is the only excitement that we had!

I got to go on exchanges with Sister Walker!!!!! She is the one I trained almost a year ago! It was so much fun! She is doing amazing things!

Anyways, those are the biggest highlights for the past 2 weeks! It has been great and busy as usual! I hope y'all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Love y'all!!
